Little River Music Valley Presents “Oklahoma’s Rising Stars” Concert and Talent Contest on Sunday, September 28
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (September 15, 2008) – The Little River Music Valley in Tecumseh, Oklahoma will host the “Oklahoma’s Rising Stars” contest and concert featuring new country rock star, Shawna Russell, with special guest, Fat Dixie, along with five hopeful musical contestants on Sunday, September 28, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the gate.
The “Oklahoma's Rising Stars” contest will feature some of the state’s most promising singers and bands covering Country, Americana, Southern Rock and Rock music who will perform in concert and vie for prize packages that include a professionally recorded and produced 3 song studio demo, customized MySpace web page, professional photographs, an Electronic Press Kit, a professionally written entertainment bio, an Ibanez acoustic Guitar, Fender electric guitar, and other musical accessories.
First, second and third place winners will be determined on the night of the show based on the number of tickets sold by each contestant and the number of fans which they have present at the event.
“Oklahoma’s Rising Stars” contestants include J.C. Hopkins & the Dead Cowboys; Brandon Lee & Lariat; Tessa Rae Newman; Jason Stringfellow & Ordinary Outlaws, and J.W. & the Double Clutch Band.
While featured headliner Shawna Russell is not a contestant, she is truly an Oklahoma star on the rise. Her debut CD, Goddess, released in March of this year has won critical acclaim for the Okemah native from Country Weekly, Maverick Magazine and The Oklahoman, among others. Her second single, “Should’ve Been Born With Wheels,” is currently gaining radio airplay across the nation and in Europe.
Special guests, Fat Dixie, of Seminole, are currently rated as one of the top up-and-coming bands in Oklahoma and they have won a loyal following in the region with their blend of Southern Rock, Country and Rock.
