Way Out West/Nine North Records Country-Rock Singer/Songwriter Stands Toe-to-Toe with Superstars in America’s Favorite Country Fan Mag – on Stands Now
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (March 28, 2008) -- Shawna Russell, country-rock singer/songwriter and Way Out West/Nine North Records artist, got a big boost this week when Country Weekly weighed in with a 3 ½ star review for her debut CD, Goddess, in their April 7 edition – on stands now.
America’s favorite “all-things-Country” mag gave Russell high praise with Music Editor Chris Neal stating, “Her promising debut is soaked in the influences of 1970’s country-rock and California pop - and the role model most clearly evoked throughout the album is Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks. It’s a winning fusion that evokes the era’s sense of mystery while remaining grounded in the present – especially on the scorcher ‘Fire in the Desert.’ “
Russell adds this accolade to other recent rave reviews for Goddess (released in Nashville during CRS-39) from Maverick Magazine, Nashville Music Guide, Country Stars Online and others.
Russell is preparing for her national radio debut on April 14, when she will release “Goddess,” the CD’s title song, on Way Out West/Nine North Records.
As one of the CMA’s “Who New To Watch in 2008” artists, the buzz around Russell is increasing within the music industry and is striking a winning chord with fans. In the past few weeks, her face and news about Goddess have been highlighted in All Access, Country Aircheck, Music Row, Radio & Records, All About Country.com, Country Stars Online, Music News Nashville, and others. It’s rare attention indeed for a brand new artist who has yet to release a single.
